August 17th, 2018 marked the 34th birthday of Lazio right-back Dusan Basta. The same day as the first match-day of the 2018/19 Serie A TIM season, from us at The Laziali, we want to thank you for your contribution over the past 4 years at the club and hope that your day was filled with happiness. Auguri, e Forza Dusan.
Basta was born in Belgrade, Serbia in 1984. He started his playing career in his home nation playing for PKB Padinska Skela and Red Star Belgrade, before moving to Italy in 2008 to play with Udinese. A player who represents the colors he wears, Basta stuck with the bianconeri side until 2014 [6 years and over 100 appearances] until joining Lazio that later that year in June. He joined the biancocelesti on a loan with a right of redemption, which Lazio eventually took up, costing the side 10.5 million euros. Basta is now very close to making his 100-appearance mark for Lazio and we will see if this season is the year he completes this amazing task; the full-back is also a member of the side that won the Supercoppa Italiana last year against Juventus.
In addition to club football, Basta has also played for Serbia on an international level: the Under 21 and First Team sides. He has 18 appearances at both of these levels [36 total], with two goals to his name for the First Team.
