Lazio ultras ”ban” women from Curva Nord before Napoli game

Not only did Lazio lose the game to Napoli, some Lazio ultras also drew shame to the Lazio name by handing out some sexist leaflets before the game. This caused controversy and consternation when ordering women and children to avoid the “sacred space” of the Curva Nord.
The message was that the first ten rows in the Curva Nord is reserved for real supporters and that women, wives and girlfriends rather should stand somewhere else. That the curva is a place for cheering, singing and not for dating.

“The Curva Nord represents for us a sacred space,” read the statement.

“An environment with an unwritten code to be respected. The first few rows, as always, have been experienced like the trenches.

“In the trenches, we do not allow women, wives and girlfriends, so we invite them to position themselves from the 10th row back.

“Anyone who chooses the stadium as an alternative to a romantic walk in Villa Borghese can go to other areas of the Olimpico.”

The Lazio responsible for communications, Arturo Diaconale, made it clear that Lazio is against any type of discriminatory action. But that it is a small group of people that did this and that it is hard for the club to stop this from happening.
FIGC commissioner Roberto Fabbricini has slammed Lazio’s ‘stupid’ ultras, who could be investigated for their comments about women.

The Corriere della Sera claims police investigators have identified the individuals who distributed the leaflets and reported its findings to prosecutors. The FIGC would also be thinking about opening its own investigation.

I personally hope that they ban the people who are responsible for these leaflets and not punishing Lazio as a club. I want Lazio to be a place for everyone to both enjoy and suffer.

Maybe Lazio should offer women free seats in the first row in other sections for the next home game?
