Sergej Milinkovic-Savic was one of the big talking points of the summer but, in the end, he remained at Lazio when the Serie A transfer window closed on Friday.
According to calciomercato.com, Jorge Mendes had contact with Real Madrid for more than a month ago to present the Serbian as possible reinforcement in the midfield.
But Mendes met opposition from coach Lopetegui and of the president Florentino Perez. The first, in particular, wanted a more technical and less physical player; the president instead considers Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as too expensive and not ready to play for Real Madrid.
