An unfortunate first matchday for Lazio, who after losing to Napoli by a scoreline of 2-1 mist now must focus on Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus this upcoming week. Current assistant manager at Chinese side Jiangsu Suning and former Lazio and Italian midfielder Cristian Brocchi spoke to Radiosei about the first match, Juventus, and much more.

Reliving Lazio vs Napoli: “It was a difficult match for Lazio as they started out very well, but then Napoli woke up after Immobile scored. The Azzurri have a lot of quality in their squad and the first goal was a classic, an action that they know by heart, while the second was a crazy strike from Insigne. A draw would have been the right result, but we are only at the beginning of the season and the team will be able to bring out the best in themselves”.

Discussing the defensive track record: “To suffer fewer goals is also due to the desire to create opportunities. I believe that Lazio has shown that it knows how to get results thanks to the team organization and the improvement of its performers in relation to this.”

On new acquisition Milan Badelj who started in the match against Napoli: “Badelj? He is a reliable player, an excellent purchase whose presence will definitely be felt throughout the season”.

An opinion on tactics: “The best solution is always provided by the coach who sees the squad closely every day. To compose the midfield it is necessary to deploy those that integrate better with each other and with the style of play that is required. Only Simone can understand and evaluate players as they are. At a tactical level, after performing a 3-5-1-1 so well, it is difficult to think of being able to change. The conditioning of the players does not seem to be at one hundred percent yet and even Simone confirmed this himself. It’s normal for the first match, but then it takes a lot to start again and take the right path”.

Talking about Juventus vs Lazio: “Matches like the one on Saturday are beautiful to play in. The knowledge of having the whole world wanting to watch the game is a great feeling. It will be very difficult to beat the Bianconeri, but anything can happen in football”.

Finally, in discussing the transfer market: “When you already have a team with excellent players, the best thing is to not distort it. The fact of not having sold Milinkovic is very important and putting other players in uncovered roles makes the squad benefit at the end of the day. In Italy, there is always the will to change, but Lazio has all the qualities to enter the Champions League. They almost did it a year ago, I do not see why they can not repeat themselves this year”.
