Report: Lazio tried for Santos’ Gustavo Cipriano this past summer transfer window

LaLazioSiamoNoi claim (according to ESPN) that over the summer transfer market, Lazio were trying to negotiate for Santos’ 17-year-old centre-back Gustavo Cipriano. However, a deal failed to materialize in time. With this being said, Cipriano is a name now almost certain to re-emerge in the January transfer market.

A talented youngster who grew up in the youth sector of the Brazilian club, last May he signed his first professional contract. Lazio is said to be proposing to Santos, a formula of a loan with the right of redemption. However, the deal has stalled due to other competition in Italy. Last January, it was Hellas Verona who made an attempt to sign the player, but the president of the Brazilian club declined the offer – it is possible his name is still on Verona’s radar.

Who will sign Gustavo Cipriano; would he be a good signing for the future of Lazio?
