Against Juventus, Lazio had a phenomenal start and fought their way to Juventus’ goal.
But only one brilliant shot by Lulic reached the net, which was parried perfectly by Juve’s Polish keeper Wojciech Szczęsny. After half an hour of game time, Miralem Pjanic netted the first goal for Juventus from the top of the box off a volley – this was the moment Lazio was out of the game. From this moment forward, everything went similar to the first match of the season against Napoli: Sergej Milinkovic-Savic spent most of his time complaining and making questionable tackles; Luis Alberto was totally invisible, with a lot of careless and inaccurate passes; Joaquin Correa again brought energy to the last part of the match by working a lot for the team; and Thomas Strakosha tried his best to keep the biancocelesti within the match – without him in goal, Lazio would have lost by a larger margin. The overall performance was way better than against Napoli, but there is still a long way to go. In my opinion, Luis Alberto and Milinkovic-Savic need to be benched for the next game, his moral and playing style were disastrous, again.

Lazio Top 3: Strakosha, Wallace, Acerbi.

Lazio Bottom 3: Milinkovic-Savic, Luis Alberto, Ciro Immobile.

Positives

  • Very decent performance by Wallace against the top team, something we haven’t seen in a long time, more confident and decisive defensively. Needs a bit more focus to limit errors, as he was linked indirectly to both goals but all in all, he played well;
  • Acerbi is making us forget De Vrij, a solid leader anchoring a weak defense for a second straight game. Can’t expect him to do everything;
  • Strakosha much more confident, making quality saves throughout the game, always shows up vs Juve;
  • Lucas Leiva hasn’t missed a beat from last year, with his timely tackles, solid passing, and leadership;
  • Correa’s pace is exciting and might deserve more playing time if Luis Alberto struggles continue;
  • Would like to see more playing time for Badelj as well;
  • Marusic had a better game than the season opener. Nothing spectacular, but won free kicks, corners and some battles on his wing.

Negatives

  • Can’t finish quality scoring chances for the second game in a row while always trying for the more difficult passes while easier ones are available;
  • Luis Alberto through 2 games has been a shadow of his former self. Can’t seem to find a teammate with a decisive pass, trying to do too much instead of making the easy play, by far the worst player for Lazio;
  • Milinkovic-Savic still not even close to the level we need from our superstar. Struggled with passing and fitness while making some dumb tackles. Antics after whistle are mostly negative towards teammates/referee. Needs to be better if Lazio has any chance at all of finishing top 4 this season;
  • Ciro Immobile had an off game, which doesn’t happen often. To his defense, there were no quality balls played into him by teammates or any real opportunities and seemed alone up top most of the game;
  • Parolo/Lulic seem to be regressing with age. Parolo can’t find back of the net missing golden opportunities since last season. Caceres and Berisha, once healthy, might be the better options at those positions;
  • Almost a copy paste of first game vs Napoli…started strong but faded as the game went on. Apart from last years success vs Juve, Lazio has trouble winning vs the big teams of Serie A, which will be a problem if they want to achieve their goal of finally returning to the Champions League.
