Report: Wesley Moraes not signed due to Simone Inzaghi being unconvinced

Club Brugge’s Brazilian striker Wesley Moraes was, for a long time, heavily linked to being the new vice-Immobile at Lazio. His agent also revealed that a contract deal had been struck with Lazio but the clubs still had to find an agreement.

The Belgian club was said to be constantly upping their asking price but, according to Corriere dello Sport, the real reason behind the deal never materializing was that Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi was not convinced by Wesley’s qualities. Inzaghi is said to have preferred that the club worked in other departments and instead put trust in Felipe Caicedo and Alessandro Rossi as backups to Ciro Immobile. Meanwhile, Wesley committed his future to Brugge by signing a new contract with the club despite the interest from Lazio and also from the Premier League from Everton.

Wesley will remain in Brugge for now, but perhaps, once he has more time to ‘prove himself’, Inzaghi will be moved to welcome the forward to the club to back-up Immobile.
