Australian youngster and winger Chris Oikonomidis, since returning this summer from a loan move at Australian club Western Sydney, has been looking for a new destination outside Rome as he has been told that he will not be a part of Simone Inzaghi’s plan for the future.
With Lazio since 2013 when he transferred from Atalanta, he was not able to break into the first team and has been sent on loan a total of three times: Salernitana in 2015 where he played in 14 matches; Aarhus Gymnastikforening in Denmark in 2016 where he made 18 appearances; and most recently Western Sydney in his home nation of Australia.
It was thought that he might complete a return to Australia and that thought has now become reality. Perth Glory have officially announced that they have signed Oikonomidis to a three-year deal. No figures has been disclosed of the deal since Lazio had contract until 2019 with Oikonomidis. Oikonomidis also expressed his delight with the move on social media:
Very excited to start the next chapter of my career with @PerthGloryFC pic.twitter.com/ZnmFxvkz7n
