Parolo: ‘Last year we would have lost games like these’

Marco Parolo scored the winner yesterday as Lazio defeated Empoli 1-0 away from home. The Italian scored his first goal of the season and helped Lazio pick up back-to-back victories after a shaky initial start to the season.

Speaking to Sky Sport after the game, Parolo said the following:

“The championship does not wait for us, we still have to work hard to get back to being as good as last year.

“The positive thing is the result, last year games like this we would have lost. Maybe we played well 70 minutes and then in the final we were robbed. The opposite is happening today.”

Optimistic words from Parolo but it seems clear to everyone that there is a long way before Lazio are fully back in business. The Biancocelesti have two straight wins now and have a Europa League fixture against Apollon and Serie A clashes with Genoa and Udinese before the next real test: the Rome derby at the end of September.
