Immobile rested for Apollon Limassol; Lazio contract renewal imminent

Prolific Italian forward Ciro Immobile has somewhat struggled to find his form from last year in Lazio’s opening games of the season. The striker scored a fantastic goal on the first day of the season against Napoli but has not scored since.

Now, according to reports from LazioNews.eu, Immobile will be rested for Lazio’s Europa League clash against Apollon Limassol on Thursday. Therefore, Felipe Caicedo is likely to start up front, after having received much criticism from Biancocelesti fans and almost leaving the club during the summer.

The same reports from LazioNews.eu suggest that the new contract for Immobile could be signed within the next 48 hours, although this is what we have been hearing for the past couple of weeks with no real official progress released to the public. Regardless, the contract will tie Immobile to the club until 2023 and make him one of the highest earners of the Lotito era at Lazio.
