Derby della Capitale: who should start in Lazio’s backline?

The season’s first Derby della Capitale between Lazio and Roma is just around the corner (this Saturday at 9:00 am EST). One of the questions for this match is regarding who will play in the Lazio backline. We know there will be three defenders, but the footballers to fill those gaps remain unknown… or do they?

Stefan Radu looks ready to be able to start in the derby and will accompany the so important new signing Francesco Acerbi. The former Sassuolo centreback has really proven to be a good signing for his defensive skills and leadership. He seems to have played in Lazio for at least 5 years when you see him play and shout to his teammates to control the shape of his side from the back. However, the big question is surrounding who will be the third center back alongside Acerbi and Radu to play on the right against Roma.

Option #1: Brazilian Luiz Felipe is recovering in a timely matter (trained with the squad yesterday and today) but will certainly not be risked by Simone Inzaghi either.

Option #2: Uruguayan International Martin Caceres might be one option with his speed, technique, and experience. Lazio will surely have to handle Roma’s speedy wingers in this game and Caceres might be the right guy for the job.

Option #3: Bastos has not been played as much this season (compared to last season) and is probably behind in the squad hierarchy.

Option #4: Someone who has played more is his evenly discussed colleague Wallace. The Brazilian, who made a horrendous error in a previous Derby della Capitale, has so far this season had good performances when called upon, although a mental lapse in the match against Empoli. But the fact is that Wallace, according to LazioPage, has made the most interceptions (4.5 per game) than anyone else in the top 5 European Leagues. If the form of a player is key, maybe Wallace is the right choice for Inzaghi for Saturday…

What do YOU think? WHo of the four aforementioned should start in the Derby?
