Roma vs Lazio, Inzaghi: ‘We want to reduce the gap with Roma’

The Derby della Capitale returns tomorrow as Lazio take on Roma at the Stadio Olimpico. Both sides know how important a victory could be at this stage in the season; both in terms of league position and morale. Speaking at his press conference ahead of the match, Simone Inzaghi revealed his thoughts ahead of the game:

“We know it’s another match in the league, we have had very little time to recover. However, maybe it’s good too, Rome will have had the same time as us, players will not have time to accumulate stress.

“We are just at the beginning, it has been a shaky start for them, like for us after the first two but now they come from a good win, they will give us a great game. Looking at the games against Bologna and Frosinone, we are ready for both the modules that will line up and can play with 4-3-3.

“Regardless it is very important for us and our fans. We want to continue like this, we will play a great team. The difference can be managed by stress and the right hunger. A derby must be played with hunger.

“Tomorrow I should have all but Lukaku. Yesterday, Radu had good feelings; Luiz Felipe was missing from Naples but he gave me guarantees against Udinese, he played a good 75 minutes: I changed him for cramps and to avoid unpleasant things.

“Everyone can be a derby man, my idea is always that the individual does not win the derby alone, but it is the group that leads to the companies, and I have a big group.

“There is a gap [with Roma] but we want to reduce it. We have included important players who will give us rotations. It will be the third match in six days, we worked hard in Udine and the boys used played excellently.”
