According to what has been reported by Il Messaggero, via CittaCeleste, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic was the subject of a last-minute bid in the summer transfer window, despite the midfielder ultimately remaining in Rome with Lazio.
The reports suggest that AC Milan offered Lazio an initial sum of €40million, plus another €120million spread over 3 €40m instalments. However, Lazio rejected the deal as it was too late for them to sign any identified replacements and therefore the Serb remained in Rome.
The 23-year-old just signed a new contract with the Biancoceleste too which sees him earn over €3m a season until 2023; yet it is likely that Milinkovic-Savic will depart the club long before his deal expires – with many of Europe’s top clubs interested in him.
