Roberto Mancini has today announced his Italy side for the upcoming fixtures against Ukraine and Poland, with two Lazio players called up. Ciro Immobile earned another call-up whilst Francesco Acerbi could be set to make his first appearance for Gli Azzurri since 2016 – with the experienced defender having just two Italy caps to his name.
Acerbi has, with the collapse at Frankfurt last night aside, been one of Lazio’s best players this season, helping bring some consistency to the Lazio defence in Stefan de Vrij’s absence. The Dutch defender left Rome in favour of a switch to Inter Milan and Laziale hoped their club would make more quality additions to the back line.
Mancini’s full Italy side:
GK: Cragno, Donnarumma, Perin, Sirigu
DEF: Acerbi, Biraghi, Bonucci, Chiellini, Criscito, D’Ambrosio, Emerson, Florenzi, Romagnoli
MID: Barella, Bernardeschi, Bonaventura, Gagliardini, Jorginho, Pellegrini, Verratti
FOR: Berardi, Caprari, Chiesa, Cutrone, Giovinco, Immobile, Insigne, Zaza
