Angola, Bastos plays full match in 4-1 victory over Mauritania

At Lazio, his starting spot still cannot be guaranteed, but with his nation, it is the exact opposite: Bastos is one of the main pillars and key figures of this African side.

In the match, which is valid for the qualifications for the next African Cup to be held in 2019, his Angola took on Mauritania – a side that had defeated Burkina Faso 2-0 in Matchday 1. However, Bastos’ side easily swept away their opposition, winning by a score of 4-1. This takes them to the top of Group I as they reach 6 points from 3 matches.

The match started in a way that surprised most – there was an immediate Mauritanian advantage signed by Moctar Sidi El Hacen. However, they then went on to concede four goals and failed to respond. 34-year old Mateus Galiano da Costa scored two goals (the first on a penalty) followed by goals from Djalma Campos and Dala Gelson. Lazio defender Bastos remained in the field for the duration of the match.
