Despite a relatively positive start to the 2018/19 campaign, the 17/18 Serie A season is still fresh in the heads of Biancoceleste; after the team were defeated on the final day of the season by Inter; meaning the Nerazzurri qualified for the Champions League ahead of Simone Inzaghi’s side. According to what has been reported by Il Messaggero, Lazio president Claudio Lotito has hit out at players asking for a pay rise:
“You were fooled against Inter in the last match of the season and now you come and ask for more money?”
A very powerful comment and one which seems suggestive that after the renewals of Ciro Immobile and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, other players would like more money too – yet some, like Luis Alberto, have not started this season well enough to warrant a pay rise just yet; especially not in Lotito’s eyes.
