Italy played Poland on Sunday evening, with the Azzurri narrowly winning 1-0 thanks to a 92nd minute winner from Cristiano Biraghi. Italy dominated but failed to find the net until late on; which some attribute to the choice to leave Ciro Immobile benched and unplayed. Expressing his shock, former team-mate of Ciro Immobile (at Torino) and long-time Lazio target Kamil Glik spoke to Tuttosport:
“Immobile on the bench? This choice surprised me a little bit. See, having an attacker like Ciro on the bench is a new thing for Italy, and even a debutant like Lasagna has come in. But, in the end, Mancini was right.”
