Lainer: “There are a lot of clubs interested in me”

The right flank of Lazio has highlighted more than one flaw in the first two months of the 2018/19 season. With upsetting performances from the current favourite Adam Marusic (partially due to physical issues), an aging Dusan Basta (who is about to be cut from the league list to favor the inclusion of Jordan Lukaku), and a benched Patric (who has not shown enough promise to guarantee being a starter), it is inevitable that Lazio will end up looking at the transfer market. A clear aspect that needs to be solved, we see most of the offensive maneuvers of Simone Inzaghi’s side start from the left flank because of this.

In addition to interest in SPAL’s Italian right-back Manuel Lazzari, this past summer Lazio showed interest in RB Salzburg’s Austrian 26-year old Stefan Lainer. Today, the defender spoke about his future to laola1.tv microphones, also commenting on his failure to transfer to Napoli this past summer: “It makes no sense to cry about what has not happened. There are a lot of clubs interested in me and we’ll see what happens in the coming months; if  I transfer, I want to be a starter. It’s fun to play with Salzburg, the other possibilities will come.”

The figures agreed upon between the Austrian company and Napoli was said to be 15 million euros, so if Lazio are to challenge clubs for his signature this winter or upcoming summer, we can expect the bidding to start there. In what would be a very important investment, we will see if Lazio pursues the Austrian.
