Lazio defeated Marseille 3-1 in the Europa League this evening, as the Biancocelesti solidified their second-place position in their group. Adam Marusic scored a later wonder-goal to wrap up the match; proving his recent doubters wrong in the most fabulous of fashions. Lazio opened the scoring through Wallace early in the match, before Felipe Caicedo made it two-nil after a good pass from Ciro Immobile. Marusic scored the final goal after Payet scored a long-range free-kick to give the Ligue 1 side a fighting chance.
Marusic has been criticised recently for poor performances, with Inzaghi experimenting with Dusan Basta and Patric in his place as a result. However, Inzaghi will be faced with a pleasant headache as he decides who to field against Inter Milan; whether it be Martin Caceres, who started in the position today, Patric, who performed well against Parma at the weekend, or Marusic, who scored his wonder-goal today.
