Lazio team news: Inzaghi shuffles cards ahead of Marseille clash

Lazio are preparing ahead of Thursday’s Europa League clash with Olympique Marseille at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. Reports from CittaCeleste and LazioNews  today provided an insight into a slight reshuffle that Simone Inzaghi has planned for Thursday’s clash.

Silvio Proto is expected to get the nod ahead of Thomas Strakosha in goal, after being dropped for the Europa League game in Marseille after conceding four against Frankfurt in match day 2. In defence, Acerbi and Luiz Felipe are to start, with either Wallace or Stefan Radu in the other centre-back position. Martin Caceres is thought to be replacing Senad Lulic in the left wing-back role whilst Marusic will mirror him on the right.

Danilo Cataldi has done enough to earn a start against Marseille, after a goal and an assist in Lazio’s 4-1 win over Spal at the weekend. Joining him in midfield will likely be Marco Parolo and either Valon Berisha or Sergej Milinkovic-Savic; with the Kosovar perhaps favoured. Milan Badelj and Lucas Leiva are both still injured and will not feature on Thursday night.

In attack, Ciro Immobile will likely start alongside Joaquin Correa; yet Inzaghi may choose to rest Immobile, in which case Caicedo would start ahead of Joaquin Correa. Luis Alberto will have to settle for the bench, unless Inzaghi seems ready to give the Spaniard another chance.
