Matchday 12 of the Serie A TIM took place at the Mapei Stadium for Lazio, as they took on a hungry Sassuolo. The biancocelesti were first to put their names on the scoresheet after a Marco Parolo strike just 7 minutes in, however, it was canceled in the 15′ by a Pol Lirola header. At the end of the match, it is Simone Inzaghi to take stock of the match.
“For us, it was very important to win. We prepared for the match in two days because we knew that they are an excellent team. After we took the lead, gave Sassuolo an easy goal. In the second half, we managed the game better but the solution was missing. There is regret for the opportunity lost in the standings, but more than anything we should not have granted such a simple goal to Sassuolo. We were also conditioned by yellow cards, but I do not remember Strakosha’s saves in the second half.”
Perhaps the strength to seek victory was lacking?
“We created chances, we missed the desire in the last few minutes but we had an organized team in front of us. In the second half we did better, we had more of the ball and created and defended better – we were better despite having players on yellow cards. I’m angry about the goal, we did not have to concede that. We also had important counters, I remember the last one from Joaquin Correa on which the offside was whistled, but it was not. We had to have more brilliance, we will accept this draw against a team that will give a hard time to many other clubs in this league.”
How do you judge Milinkovic-Savic’s match?
“He is committed, he has pace and endurance and has given quantity and quality. Sergej is growing and has been important as well as everyone else, Immobile, Luis Alberto – everyone.”
What is the secret of this Lazio?
“I am lucky to have found a group of serious players like the ones I have: we play every three days, It is not easy to prepare the games in such a short time. I have serious guys, we are having a good run of form, but we have to improve because everyone expects big things from us. We want to grow even more than in the past two years, we will try to do it.”
