Ilijoski: “Milinkovic-Savic’s worth is equal to that of Pogba”

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been, and still is, one of the most discussed midfielders at the current moment. Picked up by Claudio Lotito and Igli Tare back in 2015 for a fee around 18 million euros from KRC Genk (Jupiler Pro League, Belgium), he had a break-out season last year setting the bar and expectations very high of himself. To be able to pick back up where you left off is quite difficult, and although his point tally is not where it was last year, he is still a valuable part of Simone Inzaghi’s side.

This ‘one-hit wonder’ idea has speculated around all of Europe this season, however, this has not altered the value of the player. This is the thought of Sasa Ilijoski, a Serbian journalist working for Večernje Novosti, who spoke about the midfielder to tuttomercatoweb.com. “It is not easy to answer the question of value on the market – this is the law that applies in the world in football and beyond. But If Pogba is worth 105 million euros, why should Sergej be paid less? He has a similar worth”.

We are still yet to see if Lazio will try to keep hold of the midfielder come the summer transfer window, but for now, he remains a Laziale and the fans will hope he revives that spark from last season.
