Report: Lazio have initiated contact with Atalanta’s Hateboer

Hans Hateboer, Atalanta’s 24-year-old right wing-back, has been one of Atalanta’s key players to success in the past few years. With three goals in 11 appearances in the Serie A TIM this season, he is beginning to gain traction from top clubs with shining performances for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side; one of these clubs is Claudio Lotito’s Lazio.

According to Calciomercato.com, in the past few days, there have been contacts between the agency that takes care of the former Groningen footballer and the biancoceleste company, with the aim of trying to bring the player to Rome this winter transfer window. However, Atalanta will certainly not stand to just sit back and watch the process develop: they intend to keep Hateboer at least until the end of the season, in which then the Bergamese club will propose an extension of his contract (it currently expires in 2020). Lazio has therefore been advised: they will have to sweat a lot to obtain Hateboer.

Arriving in Italy for the 2016/17 season, Hateboer really stepped onto the scene last year, when he made 41 appearances, providing three assists and playing over 3000 minutes of football. A perfect fit at Lazio, Hateboer would come into the side to take-over and challenge Adam Marusic on the right flank. With an aging Dusan Basta and an unsure Patric, Hateboer could really bolster the biancocelesti side’s quality.
