Lazio slip to 39th in latest UEFA ranking

Lazio’s loss to Eintracht Frankfurt was largely meaningless in terms of the team’s Europa League ambitions. The Biancocelesti had already secured their spot in the round of 32 and could not catch the German club for first place even with a win. But the loss represents the longest winless streak for the club under Inzaghi’s leadership at six games and it certainly won’t help to dispel the rumors whirling around the club about cohesion and confidence.

Coupled with the shock loss to Apollon in the preceding game it also cost the Roman club a spot in the UEFA club rankings, moving from 38th to 39th place, behind Club Brugge at 38th and Fiorentina at 37th. The poor result capped a dismal week for Italian teams in Europe as Inter and Napoli crashed out of the Champions’ League and Milan from the Europa League.
