The return of Luis Alberto?

If there’s a silver lining in Lazio’s defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in Thursday’s Europa League match it may very well be the return of Luis Alberto to full health. The Spaniard played a full and, according to him, “pain-free” 90 minutes against the Germans – a significant moment for the player who has not been able to play to his potential yet this year thanks to a nagging groin injury. “We are ready to get back to winning ways in our next match” declared the Lazio midfielder before taking a moment to thank the physiotherapists at the club and his wife for helping him through the difficult period.

Alberto showed signs of returning to his old self in the Europa League match providing a pinpoint assist to Correa to put the biancocelesti ahead – albeit momentarily. The two Lazio forwards seem to have the beginnings of what may prove to be a strong relationship. Lazio fans can only hope so – a return to last year’s form would be exactly the right tonic for a side that has struggled of late to find creativity and scoring potency.
