Lazio-Cagliari: Milinkovic-Savic: ‘I really missed scoring goals’

Lazio emerged 3-1 victors against Cagliari at the Stadio Olimpico yesterday, with the Biancocelesti recovering from a winless streak to pick up the three points and move back into 4th position. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic broke his goal drought by netting the opener for Inzaghi’s side, much to the relief of many a Laziali. Speaking to the microphones of Lazio Style Channel after the game, Milinkovic-Savic revealed his immediate thoughts and feelings:

I missed scoring goals a lot, I had scored against Genoa and I’ve looked for it since then. I worked day by day and now I hope to continue to score many others. Today we played better, we changed the form and maybe it depends on that. The approach this time was the right one, unlike the last games. We hope to continue like this.

‘My position today? It was different from usual, I was more backward. I scored, so I would say I liked it. Let’s see what the coach will decide for the next game, we are all ready, depending on the coach. We have not won for so long, so today we go home happy. We all have a smile on our faces. We are united and loaded. Even dinner helped us in this sense. The important thing now is to play game after game and collect positive results.

‘The emotion of the goal? I did not know how to cheer, I also thank the comrades who immediately came to embrace me because they knew how much I missed the goal. The role? For me the important thing is to play, it’s okay even if I have to do it as a full-back.

‘Race for the Champions League? I personally look at us as a side with a goal to get to the Champions League. Three or four poor results does not change anything. There are still many points at stake, the important thing is to get there. After today’s goal also physically I feel good. I always try to give my best. We hope to repeat the past season and my dream is always the same: bring the team into the Champions League.’
