Lazio-Torino, Inzaghi: “Baffled by the refereeing today”

The match between Lazio and Torino in Matchday 19 of the Serie A TIM resulted in a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Olimpico. Not only were many chances created, but two goals were also scored and two players were sent off; Andrea Belotti and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic scored, whilst Adam Marusic of the Biancoceleste and Soualiho Meite of the Granata were sent off.

At the end of the match, the director of communication for the Biancoceleste, Stefano De Martino expressed the thoughts of sporting director Igli Tare, who was far from Rome for work-related business. “Our Sports Director is far away from the capital, but he asked me to report his statement on the match; Igli Tare was completely baffled by the refereeing in today’s match”.

In addition, Biancoceleste coach Simone Inzaghi spoke in the post-match as well. “The episodes today have affected the match but I have not talked about the referees since last year. But today’s episodes are there for all to see: a ball already cleared but then a whistle goes and a penalty is awarded that is very difficult to grant. Also, 10 minutes before in the 29′, Torino should have been down to 10 men because there should have been a second yellow card for Izzo. But beyond the episodes that today have affected the match, I would like to emphasize the desire and performance of the boys. It is normal that there is a bitter taste in the mouth.”
