According to multiple sources in the UK, Chelsea have accepted a loan offer from Serie A TIM side Lazio for Italian defender Davide Zappacosta, with a £13.5m option to make the deal permanent. The 26-year old has found it hard to find playing time under new manager Maurizio Sarri; he has made just two Premier League appearances this season as a substitute for a total of 18 minutes. Whilst he has played in six Europa League matches to this date, the defender looks set for a move in search of first team minutes.
Previously with Torino, Atalanta, and Avellino in the past, Zappacosta was born in Sora – which is in the region of Lazio – where he started his career with Isola Liri. A player capable of playing in a three or four at back formation, he is ideal as a right wing-back for Simone Inzaghi’s formation. With experience and knowledge in the Serie A TIM, Zappacosta would be a terrific signing.
