Lotito drops hint that Lazio rejected €160m for Milinkovic-Savic

Lazio’s Serbian midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic was a name on many lips in the summer, with the 23-year-old’s place at Lazio threatened as Europe’s elite clubs lined up bids for the powerhouse. Speaking after the Lazio Nella Scuole event, Lazio President Claudio Lotito spoke to reporters, where he revealed an interesting tidbit of information about Milinkovic-Savic:

“The interest of the President is to reinforce the team, otherwise I would have sold Milinkovic-Savic for €160 million. Financial fair play… should the rules be reviewed? No behavior should be reviewed. I cannot intervene in certain times, having an institutional task. Do we want to get to the fourth place? You ask a wrong question because you think that achievement depends on the individual. The objectives are achieved with a project.”
