Lazio’s complicated shirt sponsorship deal with gambling company Marathonbet will continue until July 2019. There was talk last summer of their deal potentially falling apart as Serie A passed a “Decree of Dignity” where they would restrict gambling company’s sponsorship opportunities with their clubs. The decree was to be grandfathered in as existing deals could be honoured but all gambling company sponsorships were to be finished by July 12, 2019, at the latest. According to agipronews.it, Lazio’s deal falls within this one-year grace period and so their sponsorship deal will carry on into the summer. The Biancoceleste will eventually need to find a new shirt sponsor, but they must be relieved to hear they can continue to reap the financial benefits of their current deal for the remainder of the season.
