DONE DEAL: Jordan Lukaku joins Newcastle United on loan

Jordan Lukaku’s adventure in Italy has come to a halt. Last season, Lukaku made 43 appearances in last seasons’ campaign. However, after becoming sidelined due to inflamed ligaments in his knee, the player has failed to live back up to expectations and prove his worth to take over a starting role in Simone Inzaghi’s starting XI.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio,  the 1994 born defender is now ready to join his brother Romelu Lukaku in the Premier League – the transfer of the Belgian defender from Lazio to Newcastle is complete. Lukaku – who this season has collected just 7 appearances in Serie A –  will transfer to Rafa Benitez’s team on loan with a right of redemption until the end of the season. It is likely that the loan deal will include a buy-out fee that Newcastle can activate should the Belgian do well.

Lukaku has made 71 appearances in all competitions for Lazio since joining the club back in the summer of 2016: in this period, he has scored one goal and provided six assists. The player was set for a Premier League move this past summer, with West Ham knocking on the door, however, a deal broke down due to the transfer fee. In addition, Everton were also interested, but a deal failed to materialize.
