Frosinone vs Lazio: The Opposition

Frosinone sit in 19th place in Serie A, with just 13 points from their 21 games so far. The Lazio-based side have scored 16 times and conceded 42, whilst also having the worst home record in the entire division; even less than bottom-placed Chievo. Frosinone have just 5 points at home this season, scoring just 6 times in 10 outings and conceding 21 for a 2.1 average per game. Frosinone have not won a single fixture at home this season, yet scraped impressive draws against AC Milan and Fiorentina, amongst others. Despite this, Frosinone defeated Bologna 4-0 last weekend, leading to Filippo Inzaghi, brother of Lazio head coach Simone, being dismissed from his position; ex-Lazio man Sinisa Mihajlovic coming in his place.

Frosinone will be hoping that this was a good omen, with spirits high as they face a tough challenge against a Lazio team with equally high morale.

Frosinone vs Lazio: The Biancocelesti View

As aforementioned, Lazio defeated Inter Milan in Coppa Italia during the week – taking the game to penalties after Ciro Immobile’s extra-time goal was cancelled out at the last minute by a Mauro Icardi penalty, given by var after a foul from Sergej Milinkovic-Savic on Asamoah, who was dismissed and then had his red card revoked shortly earlier. Before the game against Inter, Lazio faced two consecutive defeats, against Napoli and Juventus; albeit giving performances worthy of those strong sides and proving the competence of the team against tough opposition. It has been a tough period for Lazio and only promises to get tougher with the upcoming Europa League fixtures against Sevilla, the first leg of the Coppa semi-final against Milan at the end of February and a Derby della Capitale against Roma at the start of March.

Lazio sit in 8th place in Serie A, with 32 points from 21 games, level on points with 7th placed Atalanta, whilst having a game in hand over 6th placed Sampdoria, on 33 points, 5th placed Roma, on 35 points, 4th placed AC Milan, on 36 points and Inter Milan on 40 points. Roma and AC Milan drew on Sunday whilst Inter fell to a 1-0 home defeat to Bologna, leaving the gap for Lazio to claw their way back into the race for continental football.

Frosinone vs Lazio: Prediction
