Lazio-Empoli, Inzaghi: “We did well to endure pressure”

Lazio defeats Empoli by a score of 1-0. Home at the Stadio Olimpico, they obtain three very important points to move into fourth place in the Serie A TIM thanks to a Felipe Caicedo spot-kick. Simone Inzaghi spoke after the match to the several news reporters. “In the first half we played well, maybe we had to score one more goal. In the second half we lost a bit of lucidity and we got stretched. We did well to endure pressure without suffering great any great danger”. We have now obtained six points in the last two matches which is very important for our position in the table. Everyone did well, including the substitutes.”

Against Empoli, the match was a ‘copy and paste’ of the previous match against Frosinone on Monday evening: a 1-0 scoreline with a goal from Ecuadorian striker Caicedo: “Last year, he suffered unfair criticism in my opinion. I asked the club to allow him to stay with us because he is a professional who always works hard – I know that when I call on him, he can provide a solution. In addition, last year he scored important goals for us”.

Lastly, Inzaghi commented on the penalty: “Both of our penalty takers in Immobile and Luis Alberto were unavailable today. This morning, Caicedo told me that he felt that there was going to be a penalty in the match. He and Correa are two great strikers who always want to score.”
