Ciro Immobile: Lazio have won just four matches without Italian forward

As Lazio prepare for their UEFA Europa League clash with La Liga side Sevilla on Thursday, statistics are proving reason for Laziale to be concerned. As it stands, prolific Italian forward Ciro Immobile will not be back from injury in time to play against his former club and therefore the Biancocelesti will have to make do without him – likely passing the mantle to Felipe Caicedo, who, in his defence, has scored twice in his last two games.

Since Immobile signed for Lazio, he has missed just 13 matches for the club. Out of these 13 games, Lazio have won just four times – most notably the Derby della Capitale in the 16/17 season in which Keita Balde played up top, as well as Thursday evening’s victory over Empoli. Other than that, Lazio have drawn five times and lost four without their star man, giving reason for concern amongst fans of the Roman club.

Not only this, but Lazio have only won five in their last 18 games against Spanish opposition. Losing nine, the Biancocelesti have drawn four and this does not bode well for the club.

It is not all bad news though. Simone Inzaghi has shown more of a willingness to rotate his players this season than last season, which means that, hopefully, the squad will be fit and ready enough to give Sevilla a real challenge on Thursday evening. Last season, Inzaghi deployed a total of 27 different players. Already this season, Inzaghi has used 29 – two more than the previous season.
