Genoa vs Lazio: Preview, prediction and where to watch

Genoa vs Lazio takes place in Serie A tomorrow as Lazio’s deadline day signing Romulo returns to face his loan club. Lazio travel to this game hot off the back of a disappointing match at home to Sevilla in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday. The Biancocelesti suffered a 1-0 loss to the Andalusian side and will be looking at Serie A as the best route to achieve Champions League football; given Sevilla’s extremely formidable home record.

Genoa vs Lazio: Opposition Preview

Genoa come into the match against Lazio in relatively poor form; winning just four of their last 20 matches in Serie A and Coppa Italia. Genoa’s last victory came at the end of January, when they defeated Empoli 3-1 but, before that, it was before Christmas in a shock 3-1 win over Atalanta that the Rossoblu claimed their last three points. Before that, Genoa had not won a match since the end of September; despite the best efforts of then-striker Krzysztof Piatek, who joined AC Milan for around €35m in the January transfer window.

Despite the fact they do not win that many games, four of Genoa’s last six Serie A games have ended in a draw – the only exceptions being a 2-0 defeat to AC Milan and the 3-1 win vs Atalanta. Genoa can put up a real challenge on their own turf and Lazio will need to be all systems go to overcome their opposition and pick up the important three points that are needed.

Genoa vs Lazio: Biancocelesti View

Lazio come into Genoa vs Lazio, as previously mentioned, with a 1-0 home loss to Sevilla in the Europa League. Despite this, the Biancocelesti have picked up successive 1-0 victories in Serie A and sit, as of the time of writing, in 7th place, although just level on points with AS Roma and Atalanta in 6th and 5th; and just one point behind 4th place AC Milan.

On the road, Lazio have registered 5 wins from their last 10 games in all competitions, including victories over Parma, Marseille and Inter Milan – but defeats to Apollon, Atalanta and Napoli, and draws with Chievo and Sassuolo, mean that Inzaghi’s side have been rather inconsistent when not playing on their own turf. Genoa could look to capitalise on this but have not beaten Lazio in Genoa since a 1-0 match in 2014.

Genoa vs Lazio: Predicted Lazio XI

Lazio: Strakosha; Luiz Felipe, Francesco Acerbi, Stefan Radu; Durmisi, Cataldi, Badelj, Lulic, Romulo; Correa, Immobile
