Sevilla vs Lazio, Senad Lulic: “I’m Sorry For the Loss”

Following a 2-0 defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League, which sees Lazio exit the competition, captain Senad Lulic spoke to reporters to comment on the match. He was the man at the center of attention for Simone Inzaghi’s side as there was a shout for a penalty in the first half. However, it was not called, changing the possible outcome of the match.

I was one step away from the goal, I wanted to shoot first, then when I blocked it I felt the contact between the defender and the goalkeeper. I had to shoot before – with that goal the game would have been different. We knew we would need two goals, we are sorry not to have scored even one. The result is clear, but we will leave this match with our heads held high.

Next Tuesday, another very important match awaits us. Important players will hopefully be returning ahead of the Coppa Italia. We can also count on those who have had less chance this year. I congratulate everyone: I am sorry to go out like this, but let’s look forward.

It is not easy to play every three days, we must keep fighting together, so we can accomplish great things.
