Former Lazio and Inter Milan forward Goran Pandev, now playing with Genoa, played a part in the rossoblu’s 2-1 victory over Lazio last weekend. Pandev has come under heavy fire in the past from Lazio fans, known for his over-the-top celebrations against the club, as well as scoring the goal which Danilo Cataldi celebrated and quickly became disliked by the club’s ultras and fans.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Pandev opened up about his feelings about Lazio, saying that “lately Lazio have brought me good luck”, before adding that “but I have to thank [Lazio], because it was there that I grew as a player.”
Pandev concluded with some comments on Serie A in general: “As long as Milan, Inter, Napoli, Lazio and Roma are not strong enough, you can not grow. The level of Italian football has dropped.”
