CIES: the top dribblers in European football

In the latest issue released by CIES – the Football Observatory who specializes in the statistical analysis of football – the best dribblers in the top five leagues of Spain, France, England, Germany, and Italy have been determined. Relying on the data provided by OptaPro, the analysis included footballers who have played at least 1,800 minutes this season.

Lionel Messi leads the way in both the standings and in La Liga with a successful dribble every 19.2 minutes. The Barcelona and 🇦🇷 superstar – also known to many as the🐐 – has a 67% dribble success rate.

21-year-old Allan Saint-Maximin ranks second in the standings and leads the way in Ligue 1. The talented 🇫🇷 footballer who plays with OGC Nice has a successful dribble every 19.8 minutes.

🇧🇪 international and Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard ranks third in the overall standings, topping the English Premier League with a successful dribble every 21 minutes

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 starlet Jadon Sancho leads the way in the Bundesliga (and ranks sixth overall) with a successful dribble every 24.1 minutes. The 18-year-old has burst onto the scenes after leaving Manchester City – becoming a regular starter for the club – and has a 61% dribble success rate.

25-year old Paulo Dybala leads the way in the Serie A TIM (and ranks thirteenth overall) with a successful dribble every 29.9 minutes. The Juventus and 🇦🇷 international – known for his established ‘Dybala Mask 🎭 celebration – has a 66% dribble success rate.

Interesting results, we are able to see that eight Serie A TIM players have made this list. They are Paulo Dybala, Rodrigo de Paul, Federico Chiesa, Manuel Lazzari, Joao Cancelo, Suso, Cristian Ansaldi, Fabian Ruiz. In addition, former Lazio winger Felipe Anderson also makes this list, sitting in the eleventh spot.
