Lazio vs Milan: Inzaghi tests a four-man defense in training

Finally – the moment Laziali have been waiting for. After weeks of requesting a change in formation, Simone Inzaghi has finally listened. Yesterday, the 42-year-old Italian manager was seen testing a four-man defense in training ahead of Lazio vs Milan in the Coppa Italia. This seems to be the call due to the emergency situation Lazio are in; with several injuries to main players in the side, Inzaghi is even said to be testing Lucas Leiva in a center-back role…

Taking stock of the infirmary, Bastos and Luiz Felipe have been with the group for an entire training session; their recovery is progressing as scheduled. Capitano Senad Lulic, who had a small injury related to a blow under his knee – is fit for action. Felipe Caicedo, who was fatigued, is also match-fit. For Wallace, on the other hand, he trained separately, still trying to regain proper strength and fitness.

It seems as if there will be several changes to not only personnel but also the formation in this match against the Rossoneri. With Stefan Radu suspended, Francesco Acerbi is the only available – and fit – central defender Lazio currently have. Taking a risk playing with three at the back – adding two wing-backs to the Italian’s left and right – does not seem like a feasible solution and because of this, a 4-3-3 formation looks as if it will be used.

Strakosha;

Marusic, Lucas Leiva, Acerbi, Lulic;

Milinkovic-Savic, Badelj, Parolo;

Romulo, Immobile, Correa.

Substitutes: Proto, Guerrieri, Bastos, Luiz Felipe, Patric, Durmisi, Bruno Jordao, Cataldi, Luis Alberto, Caicedo, Pedro Neto.

A match that will be decided over both legs – as Inzaghi had mentioned in his press conference yesterday – this will be a true test for the Roman side.
