Luiz Felipe: Lazio defender earns call up to Italy U21 side

Good news for Lazio fans today as Gigi Di Biagio, head coach of Italy’s U21 national team, has called up Lazio defender Luiz Felipe to his squad for the matches against Austria and Croatia later this month.

Despite being born in Brazil, Luiz Felipe has qualified for Italian citizenship and will be making his first appearance for the Azzurri’s U21 side; with a potential view to make the step up to the Azzurri first team in the future.

The centre-back has been one of the stand-out performers in Lazio’s defence over the past year; despite struggling with injury on the odd occasion. This call-up will be his chance to impress on the international stage and proves that he has what it takes to play in the Italian first team, with Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup in mind.
