In a recent interview with Corriere dello Sport, Cesare Prandelli talked about his life as a footballer and his coaching career. From failure in the National team in the 2014 World Cup to the memory of his wife (who passed away in the period in which he was coaching Fiorentina), Prandelli also surprisingly mentioned that he was near an arrival to Rome to manage Lazio. Before signing a contract with Spanish side Valencia in 2016, Prandelli stated that he was contacted by Claudio Lotito and Igli Tare. After a long conversation on the phone, in which Lotito was convinced and prepared to offer the Italian a contract, he disappeared. Prandelli soon found out that the reason for this was because the Biancocelesti President had decided to change direction and attempt to secure Marcelo Bielsa (which ended very poorly).
