Eljif Elmas: Tottenham bid for Fenerbahce youngster eyed by Lazio
Lazio must play their hearts out in every match from now until the end of the season; their UEFA Champions League ambitions rely on it. However, this has not prevented the club from starting to plan for the future. In regards to the upcoming summer transfer window – in which several players are being observed by both the club and sporting director Igli Tare – the latest addition is 19-year-old Eljif Elmas who is currently playing his club football in Turkey with Fenerbahce. However, not only the Biancocelesti have expressed their interest in Elmas.
The competition is strong with Fiorentina, Inter, Zenit, and Tottenham who are all on his tracks: according to the latest reports from the Turkish press, Premier League side Tottenham are in the lead to sign the player as they have presented an offer of approximately 22 million euros. If this is believed to be true, this would mean that Lazio are almost certainly out of the race for his signature, but only time will tell.
A Macedonian background, the young midfielder has already been capped five times by the nation; his debut came back on June 11th, 2017. So far this season, the player has made 35 appearances for the club in all competitions, with 24 coming from the top flight of Turkish football, the Super Lig. Able to play anywhere across the midfield, the center of the park is where he is most comfortable and capable to play.
