Felipe Caicedo’s two goals allowed Lazio to take home the three points in a tough evening in Genoa, leaving Quagliarella’s goal just a consolation. At the end of the match, the Ecuadorian striker spoke to Sky Sports, commenting on the match. Here are his words:
“We knew that Sampdoria are a team that doesn’t give up, we suffered well and played well in the second half. We deserved this victory. Champions League? Unfortunately we dropped a bit in the last two games, but we never give up, we know that we have to be together and fight until the end. Today’s win is an answer and we have to keep it that way. My Role? Inzaghi makes the choices and I have to respect them, I was sorry not to play in Milan but we played a team game and it went very well. I’m happy with my role, I work every day to be ready and the coach makes his choices. I’m comfortable with myself, I have to keep it that way.”
Felipe Caicedo also spoke to the Lazio Style Channel following the game:
We had a bad game against Chievo and we had to redeem ourselves. We knew it would be difficult today against Sampdoria. We had a great first half, we suffered during the second half, but we managed to keep the lead. I’m happy with the two goals and it pumped me up to the right point. Atalanta? We’ll have to be very focused to have a great game, they’re a tough team. The reaction of the locker room after two wins? I’ve received compliments from everyone. I always say that the Italian championship is the most difficult I’ve ever played in. Scoring two goals in a game is never easy, let alone here. That’s why I’m very proud.”
Finally, the Ecuadorian striker also spoke in mixed zone at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris:
“I’m happy to win, whether it’s my time or not I don’t know. I’m definitely fit and happy because I’m doing well. We had a bad game against Chievo, but today luckily we undid it immediately. Now everything has reopened, we must fight to the end. I cannot explain the reasons for these ups and downs. Today we played great, all united. That’s football, you must never give up because in Italy all the teams are strong. We’ll need an even more intense game against Atalanta. The aim is to win them all, if we then go into the Champions League or the Europe League we’ll see. On Sunday we’ll face a team like that, like us, who’s fighting for a place in Europe, but we’re Lazio, and we never give up. We have to be ready.”
