Poli: “Caicedo inspires. Coppa Italia? That would be a great achievement”

Fabio Poli, who played for Lazio in the mid 1980’s, is still well loved by the Biancocelesti fans and often speaks highly of the club. He spoke to Lazio Style Radio 89.3 this week, on Lazio’s current form and Coppa Italia ambitions. Here are his words:

“It’s a season that’s good to follow, exciting and uncertain. Even if it’s not high quality. Especially at the level of the game, the matches don’t amuse you. Excluding the Scudetto everything is still at stake. It’s a shame about the defeat to Chievo, otherwise Inzaghi’s team would have had a much better chance of getting the fourth place finish. Caicedo? He’s an important player, a physical and impressive player. At this moment he sees the goal well and is proving to be decisive for this group, a real driving force.”

On Lazio’s Coppa Italia final and league game against Atalanta, he commented the following:

“With Atalanta, it will be a tough challenge, but Lazio have all the credentials to win. You can’t afford to drop points against the side like what happened with Sampdoria, otherwise things could get bad. Gasperini’s team have discovered various players such as Zapata, Ilicic and many others in recent years. They should be congratulated for the results obtained. Finally, I think that Sunday’s game is an appetiser for the Coppa Italia final, another decisive game. Winning a trophy would be a great achievement.”

Lazio have a critical game against La Dea in the league on Sunday 5th May, in a game where both sides are fighting for the final Champions League Qualification spot. 10 days later, on 15th May, they will play again to decide the victor of this season’s Coppa Italia.
