After the 1-0 victory over Inter at the San Siro on March 31st, there was optimism and hope for Lazio to truly obtain a top-four spot and to book their spot in next seasons UEFA Champions League. However, this objective slowly, but continuously began to fade… Taking a look into the last month of footballing action for Lazio, the results are anything but attractive. Spal, Sassolo, Milan, Udinese, Chievo, Sampdoria, and most recently, Atalanta – from the third of April to the fifth of May, there were a total of seven matches in the Serie A, only two of which were won. Quite astonishing, what’s even worse was the effort and performances that were put forward by the team. Big stars such as Ciro Immobile, Luis Alberto, Joaquin Correa, and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic all failed to contribute to the team’s success. Without the help of Ecuadorian striker Felipe Caicedo, several goals and even more points would have been lost… Looking further into this run, of a potential 21 points, Lazio obtained six. In addition, they conceded 10 goals, whilst only scoring eight, and maintained just one clean sheet. This is the worst record under Simone Inzaghi – never, since the former Laziale has been in charge of the club, have they had such a poor string of results; the last time the Biancocelesti performed so inadequately dates back to the period between October and December of 2015, when Stefano Pioli’s was in charge and managed zero points from five of seven matches…
