Lazio a possible destination for former Inter defender Murillo: the details

With less than a month remaining in the 2018/19 season, Lazio will have to take stock of their current needs and reflect ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window. While there is a key group of players who need to be kept, there is also a good portion of the squad that should be reinforced, especially in defense. Something must be improved, and this is why calciomercato.it is reporting that the Biancocelesti are after Jeison Murillo. Formerly of Inter and currently owned by Valencia, the 26-year-old started this campaign in La Liga with Los Murciélagos before making a switch to league leader Barcelona in January. However, with both clubs in all competitions, the Colombian international has managed just seven appearances (only three in La Liga). Quite the surprise, due to a lack of trust from the Spanish sides, the defender looks set to make a move this upcoming summer.

The Blaugrana will not redeem the player for the reported 25 million euros, meaning that he will be sent back to Valencia. Here, they do not look to be willing to give the player a chance. Purchased for a fee of 12 million euros from Inter in the summer of 2018, Murillo’s contract is valid until the summer of 2022. This suggests that if he is to leave the club, they will hope to at least make their initial investment back. With Roma and Fiorentina both also showing interest in the player, Igli Tare and Claudio Lotito will have to act quickly if they are to have any chance in securing Murillo’s services.
