Bonacina: “It’s not over yet, the final will be a battle”

After defeating Lecce in the semifinals by a score of 3-1Valter Bonacina’s Lazio U19 Primavera are ready to take on SPAL in the finals to obtain promotion to Primavera 1. To speak of the match and the future, was the Lazio manager himself to La Lazio Siamo Noi.

In the first half, we struggled to keep up with their pace, misinterpreting the match from a technical point of view. We wanted to start from the back and build, but they were aggressive and stole the ball over and over again, putting us in great difficulty. We then conceded a trivial penalty and this changed the game. We were lucky for Baxevanos’s goal at the end of the first half; it was the foundation of our comeback in this match. We went into half-time tied 1-1 and the boys believed it. This made the difference in terms of morale when we entered the pitch once again.

I congratulated the team, but it’s not over yet. These next two days we must rest, but then we need to start again, concentrated ahead of the final. On Sunday we will face another good team; we have never faced the SPAL in the league, but we will prepare for the game as usual by watching some of their matches, even if this counts for nothing. We need to count on the determination and our spirit, and we must certainly remain focused to achieve our goal. It will be a battle, a very balanced game.

My future? It is not up to me to say whether next year I will be the coach of Lazio, the fundamental thing now is to achieve promotion…
