Torino vs Lazio is the Biancocelesti’s final outing of the season; in a seventh-place play-off, effectively, that sees no impact on either team’s European qualification prospects. With both sides already finishing outside of the top six, it really is just a matter of pride and who wants that final place more. On one hand, Lazio, with Europa League already secured thanks to their Coppa Italia win over Atalanta, will still want to end the season on a high note whilst Torino, meanwhile, without any European qualification despite a fantastic season, may give it one final push to at least earn some bragging rights over Simone Inzaghi’s side.
Torino come into Torino vs Lazio in great form, having lost just twice in their last seventeen games; a run which included victories against the likes of Milan, Atalanta and Inter, and a credible 1-1 draw against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium. Torino have been a formidable foe in the second half of the season and had given the Champions League race a real go before defeats to Bologna in March and Empoli last weekend ended their dreams of even qualifying for the Europa League. Despite this, the Turin based side have been a great side to watch and can be proud of the performances they gave.
Lazio, on the other hand, have won four of their last six games in all competitions; which includes the 2-0 win over Atalanta in the Coppa Italia final. Although Torino vs Lazio does not mean much for the Biancocelesti, it will be a possible farewell to a number of players and possibly, although extremely unlikely at this stage, the departure of head coach Simone Inzaghi – who is reportedly on Juventus’ shortlist to fill the role left by Max Allegri when he leaves the champions at the end of the season. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Felipe Caicedo, Milan Badelj and Thomas Strakosha have all been linked with moves away and this could be the final league game for any number of these players in Biancocelesti.

Torino vs Lazio – Prediction
This is an incredibly strange game to try and call. Neither team have anything but pride to play for and, by the looks of Lazio’s predicted line-up, Inzaghi will be using the game to experiment slightly, as well as giving both Bruno Jordao and Danilo Cataldi a prominent role in the starting XI. Torino will want to end the season on a high note but so will the Biancocelesti players, especially after the success in the Coppa Italia. With this being a final game of the season too, it is tough to call but a score draw seems about right to please all involved.
