Farris: ‘Coppa Italia? Milinkovic-Savic was decisive’

Lazio’s assistant manager, Massimiliano Farris, has spoken to Lazio Style Channel about the Coppa Italia final against Atalanta, which Lazio emerged 2-0 victors from.

“There is great joy, we have concluded at best an exciting route in the cup, which has seen us reach the final of the Olimpico against Atalanta passing first Inter and then Milan in both cases at San Siro. We came from the defeats in the league, which taught us a lot both on a tactical and an attitude to be adopted on the pitch. The game was best interpreted after kick-off, the boys gave everything and they executed the plan perfectly.

“Marusic starting was a muscular choice, we opted for Parolo and Luis Alberto in the middle to have balance, imagination and a nice change. Milinkovic-Savic, in fact, was an important substitute, he gave a big hand to the team and, not surprisingly, he solved it. The Spaniard could experience some problems with high rhythms, Sergej didn’t have 90 minutes in his legs and so we made the most of the alternation between the two midfielders. In this match there was the problem of the admonition for Bastos. Initially he was chosen because he could face Ilicic, who is a skilled player in starting from the right and then back on the left-hand side but the physical race and the yellow card hanging on a defender could be heavy: it would take just a moment to receive the second yellow card and for this reason, even if it took courage and it was not easy to make this decision at the half-hour mark, he was called back to the bench in favour of Radu, but in the end it went well like this.”
