UEFA announced its decision regarding the match between Sevilla and Lazio, announcing that it has rejected the Biancocelesti’s appeal. Therefore, the sanctions that were first assigned to the club, will take effect. Below, the official statement that was released on May 23rd.
UEFA Appeals Body decision – S.S. Lazio
The Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) had decided:
- to order the partial closure of the S.S. Lazio stadium during the next (1) UEFA competition match in which the Italian club would play as the host. The S.S. Lazio shall inform at least 30 days prior to the match, the sector(s) to be closed, which shall at least comprehend 3,000 seats;
- to order S.S. Lazio to implement the following directive in the next UEFA competition match which the club shall play as the host club: to display a banner with the wording “#EqualGame”, with the UEFA logo on it. The banner shall be covering the entire sector(s) to be closed;
- to fine S.S. Lazio €20,000;
- to suspend player Adam Marušic for assaulting another player for three (3) UEFA competition matches for which he would be otherwise eligible.
